Announcing Endlesss Community: Season 1

Greetings, Endlesssers! As you may already know, we’re setting out on a journey to transform Endlesss from a single privately owned company to an ecosystem co-owned and operated by anyone who wants to be a part of it. Today we're excited to announce our next step in this direction.

Why are we doing this? We’ve come to believe that privately owned software platforms disenfranchise and extract value from the people who make those platforms so valuable. Right now we have an opportunity to build something fairer.

In the five years since we founded Endlesss, new technology has been developed which makes it easier for people to acquire stakes in platforms in exchange for playing an active role in growing them and bringing them to life. These stakes, represented by tokens, are much easier to transfer and trade than company shares, so they tip the balance from a narrow to wide distribution of ownership in a company.

Because the tech is new, making this transition is a journey which few have taken before, and the territory is not yet fully explored. But we’re very excited to be setting out together with you as we take this big first step.

When people come together to jam on Endlesss, magic and musical resonance can emerge beyond what any of the jammers could have imagined. We believe this dynamic can be applied to anything, not just music. The right people + the right tools + the right goals will always lead to magic. The product we’ve built so far and the community that has gathered around it is invaluable, but both have a lot of potential yet to be unlocked. ‘Endlesss Community: Season 1’ will be our first step towards handing over some functions of the Endlesss ecosystem to the Endlesss community.

So far we’ve learned it’s important to have a clear vision while also staying focussed on actionable next steps. The motto “Build, Test, Learn, Repeat” has been instrumental in guiding product development, and we think this motto will continue to serve us well.

We also love some of the new ideals of ‘web 3’, particularly ‘composability’ which encourages developers to build things that can easily be built upon by anyone who has an idea and the motivation to build it. We believe this principle will also help guide how we transition to the community.

We’re so excited to find out what happens when we give community members an opportunity to carry out meaningful work that benefits the ecosystem and be rewarded with ownership stakes through that work.

Endlesss Community: Season 1

Launching January 25

Today we’re launching our first community working groups which will take on four functions of the Endlesss ecosystem.

We’ve invited four community members to coordinate these groups and be a point of contact between contributors and the Endlesss team. From here, we’re intentionally leaving it up to the community to discover the best game plan to achieve these goals. We want to learn from how this unfolds and understand what’s needed to make community contribution smooth, fun and successful.

Things we’re eager to learn:

  • The appetite of the community to work together towards these goals.

  • How well the community accomplishes these goals.

  • How the community naturally organises.

  • Ways we can improve community coordination and success.

  • Who ends up becoming a key contributor and how.

  • How best to nurture contributors.

The role of the coordinators is to facilitate the collaboration of the community and be a point of contact between the contributors and the Endlesss team. We would love you to be a part of this. If this speaks to you, please head to our Discord server to get involved! If the experiments in season 1 are successful, we would like to explore how the community themselves could independently start their own working groups on the way to establishing Endlesss as an ever-growing interdependent network of working groups, guilds or jams.

Introducing the four working groups...

Community Growth

The goal of this working group is to grow the Endlesss community through reaching out to people who haven’t yet heard of or tried Endlesss. This working group will have a budget of 1m $ESSS to be deployed over the next six months. We will measure its success by the number of new Endlesss accounts creating 10 or more rifffs in a 30 day period. If you’re interested in helping us grow the Endlesss community, head to the community-growth channel on Discord where @elling will help coordinate initiatives.

Community Engagement

The goal of this working group is to re-engage existing members of the Endlesss community through any initiatives that give people opportunities to deepen their creative journey on the Endlesss app and in the Endlesss community. This working group will have a budget of 1m $ESSS to be deployed over the next six months. We will measure its success by the number of existing Endlesss accounts returning to use the app in a 30 day period. If you’re interested in helping us re-engage the Endlesss community, head to the community-engagement channel on Discord where @Firephly will help coordinate initiatives.

Platform Experience

The goal of this working group is to build better communication between the Endlesss product team and the Endlesss community to provide more regular updates on developments and focus and sift feedback from the community. @afta8 is the Platform Experience Co-ordinator. Get involved in the conversation about product development in the community-product channel.

Developer Community

The goal of this working group is to engage and share knowledge with the engineers and software developers in the Endlesss community as we begin to open-source our technology and open up development of the platform to the community. Our goal is to open up some platform development tasks to the community as well as provide open-source code and infrastructure to better support any development projects that the developer community would like to create. This working group will have a budget of 1m $ESSS to be deployed over the next six months. We will measure success by the number of registered developers in the community. If you’d like to get involved with the developer community, head to the developer-community channel on Discord, where @william sharkey will help coordinate activities.

We can’t wait to extend the jams to everything that happens on Endlesss! Let's do this.
