Welcome to our regular round up all things Endlesss — from upcoming app updates to the latest happenings in the community.

Designed and built from scratch: A DIY Endlesss Controller

What do you do when you want to integrate Endlesss into your live performance rig? If you're Endlesss user NotesAndVolts, you spend a half a year designing a custom external controller and you build it yourself.

It's been a real labour of love for the electronics hobbyist and guitarist, who has built five controllers for Endlesss users so far. Each one has buttery smooth buttons and knobs mapped to the Endlesss controls, and looks and feels amazing. He even recently assembled one live on his Twitch channel.

We asked him a few questions about the controller and his process:

What made you want to build an Endlesss controller?

When I first found Endlesss, I knew it would be a big part of my performing rig. So I needed a way to control it. I started by trying to map an Akai - MIDImix but I found it difficult to use. So I thought about what I wanted in a Endlesss controller and got started. I wanted it to follow the look and feel of the program and also be sized to fit in my setup.

How long does it take you to build each one?

The case is the part that takes the longest — about 12 hours to print. I usually let the 3D printer run overnight. When I'm soldering up the unit I like to play concerts from YouTube in the background. I finished one during an old Genesis show, which was about 2 hours.

Are you currently working on anything else like this?

I'm currently working on a four button footswitch that will allow me to record loops when my hands are full. It's a much simpler project and I'm making a video about it to share with the DIY'ers in the community.

Endlesss Stories

"I just love the feedback loop of creation and inspiration from each new connection we make on Endlesss. One favourite moment for me was being part of the Unfolding event. The community and the hype around the event helped me finish my first full track I've made in years."
