Endlesss Weekly — May 3, 2022

Welcome to the regular round-up all things Endlesss — from upcoming app updates to the latest happenings in the community.

Welcome to our new Head of Product: Aftab Hussain

We at HQ are very excited to announce that the one and only Aftab Hussain — aka afta8 — will be joining us as our new Head of Product.

For 20 years Aftab has been working in senior leadership positions at various tech, finance, social enterprise and non-profit companies. He’s also a musician himself, and has taught music tech, worked as a soundtrack composer, and coded music tools for personal use. He’s also an early-adopter of Endlesss and the founder of the famous Track Club (trackclub.live).

Head of Product is a huge undertaking, as it’s the position responsible for guiding strategy, design, development, and marketing. We know Aftab is gonna knock it out of the park.

A few quick questions with Aftab:

What are you most excited about with this position at Endlesss?

I’m just so excited to be working on the future direction of the app and community ecosystem. There’s nothing else like it out there that has this kind of potential to transform how musicians connect with each other and their fans, and to share the value of their art. Having been a hardcore user of the app from the early days to now being able to take a lead on improving an already fantastic set of creator tools, I’m excited about solving the problems but also the range of new features that could be added. On a personal level, entering this role feels like the Japanese concept of ikigai: working on something you love, doing something you are good at, earning a wage and doing something the world needs, so the work doesn’t feel like work. It’s perfect.

What have been some of your favourite moments on Endlesss?

I have three... The first was the very first time I joined a jam and someone remixed a rifff of mine. This experience is so commonplace now, but it was just so mind blowing to experience this for the first time. Next was how Track Club came together. It was such a simple idea that gathered momentum so quickly and became a self-sustaining, thriving community with a range of spin-offs. I just planted a seed, and it was the community energy and spirit that made it what it is today. I’m amazed all the time by the passion this app ignites in users. Finally, all the many times when you are in a jam and it’s plodding along and then out of nowhere it just somehow comes together in a moment of musical brilliance that feels transcendent. This kind of moment happens all the time. It’s just the magic of Endlesss.

Thank you, Elliot!

We bid a farewell (for now!) to Elliot Greenhill, who has been an absolute ninja in the position for the last 18 months. He's been instrumental in bringing Endlesss to where it is today, and has worked his ass off to do it. "I'm sad to be moving on from Endlesss but super proud of what the whole team has achieved over the last few years," he says. "It's been amazing to build and release Studio and being able to get this out across Mac and Windows. We've also achieved a lot under the hood during this time and happy to be leaving with a much more stable and flexible platform to be building the future of Endlesss on!"

"I will throughly miss the team plus the energy and passion in the community for driving Endlesss forward, however I won't be going too far," he says. "I'll see you in the Jams." ❤️
